Behavior

Recommended for novice dog handlers
Not recommended as a guard dog
Not suited for running or jogging with their owner

The Clumber Spaniel is a affectionate, gentle, and loyal dog who snores and loves to be mischievous. You will find food missing from the table and countertops and shoes missing from the closet if you don't keep an eye on this little thief.

The AKC Standard says "His stature is dignified, his expression pensive, but at the same time, he shows great enthusiasm for work and play."

He has a clown-like personality and a sweet, happy-go-lucky attitude making him a desirable companion. He is friendly with people, family or stranger, and with other animals.

Clumbers are happiest in a country setting and require daily exercise and training along with regular entertainment. They thrive on attention from their owner. If they become bored, they may also become destructive.
